CCMA'S ON THE HORIZON
WITH SHARI LYNN
If Shari Lynn’s got one thing going for her, besides her illustrious voice, luminary looks and skyrocketing career, it’s her solid support system; The CCMA quickly found that many people in the industry will attest to her undeniable talent. And what better token of endorsement can you give to an aspiring superstar than the voice of experience? Shari Lynn has been fortunate enough to receive plenty of advice from seasoned professionals, including both Jason McCoy and Jane Bach, whom Shari sites as integral to the development of her career: “Jason has always been a great influence, and I learned a lot from co-writing with Jane Bach.” Shari Lynn has lots of people on her team, and it’s a winning one.

You might not know it to look at her, but this passion-driven artist with such distinctive style originally made a name for herself by using someone else’s. That’s right, Shari Lynn was once a Shania Twain tribute performer; she fondly recalls being mistaken for the real deal while shopping at the mall, visiting casinos and even pumping gas. However, these encounters, in addition to performing with such high-caliber expectations certainly benefited Shari, and she commented, “I had such big shoes to fill, it required a high level of professionalism and energy. It was a great experience, playing such large venues, and the amount of exposure and being in the public eye has really prepared me for my career as an original artist.” It appears that Shari has filled her Shania shoes, and eventually outgrown them.

Although Shari Lynn has always had a creative flair and a desire to branch out as an original artist and songwriter, it wasn’t until other people, both fans and fellow performers encouraged her to break out of the Shania mold and create her own formula for fame. “People were always telling me that I should do my own thing, (Julian Austin and Jason McCoy to name a few), and fans were always asking when I would come out with my own album,” Shari recalls. In 2004, she finally took their advice and headed for the studios.

After accomplishing so much, including a fulfilling music career performing as not one, but two different artists, one might wonder what goals Shari herself might be aiming for on the horizon. “Oh, I’ve got goals,” beams Shari, “I want to become a household name, and I want what every other artist wants: to make a decent living doing what I love.” This performer, who was once stopped on the street and identified as a star, wants to continue being recognized – but on her own terms; by her own name.
Shari Lynn is one of those people that we all envy; a chameleon in the music industry not only when it comes to her appearance, (she confidently rocks blonde locks just as well as the darker, distinguished hair that made her famous as a tribute act), but also when it comes to her musical endeavors. Shari Lynn’s success as a tribute performer has definitely established her as a very versatile artist; she’s got the fan following to prove it. Now she’s ready to roll up her sleeves and climb her way to the top as an original artist. Watch out Shania, Shari Lynn is a star on the rise!
